Toyota Corolla 2018

As one of the most popular cars worldwide, the Toyota Corolla is a car that almost doesn’t need any introduction. In Oman, the 2018 Toyota Corolla remains one of the best-selling new cars. While some may argue that nothing stands out about the Corolla these days, its superior practicality and value for money should still be enough to win everyone over.

Exterior

Toyota has recently made the effort to make the looks of the Corolla more dynamic, and this year’s iteration has succeeded for the most part. Its lines and corners flow very well, and just about every design element used is coherent with each other. Even though an argument can be made that the Corolla’s looks is still not as dynamic as its rivals, it is still a beautiful car.

Interior

Toyota Corolla 2018 Interior

The interior department has always been one of Toyota’s strong points over many of its compact car competitors, and the 2018 version is no different. It is one of the roomiest cars in its class. Dashboard placement is excellent, the controls are easy to reach and have quality feel. The seats are comfortable and provide ample support. Great-quality materials are used all over the cabin.

Features

The Corolla has a boatload of safety features as standard. Anti-lock brakes, electronic brake assist, and an armada of airbags are all standard equipment in the Corolla. A 6-speaker sound system, an updated infotainment system, and a 6-inch touchscreen are standard features as well. Higher trim options have even more features, making it one of the most loaded cars in its class.

Specs

2 engines are available for the Corolla in 2018. The entry-level 1.6-liter engine provides a maximum output of 121 horsepower and 154 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, a more upscale 2.0-liter engine comes with higher numbers: 143 horsepower and 187 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to automatic transmissions. Despite a relative lack of power and acceleration compared to its peers, better suspension and steering make the 2018 Corolla a surprisingly fun and engaging drive.

Verdict

Toyota may seem to have been a bit conservative when it comes to the Corolla. But there are times when subtlety can go a long way, especially in the compact car segment. While its rivals bombard you with aggressive styling and technology, the Corolla focuses on what you really need in a small family sedan – space, practicality, and affordability.
