Grace period introduced for Abu Dhabi toll gates

Despite the toll gates across Abu Dhabi going live on 2^nd January 2020, the Integrated Transport Center has launched an awareness campaign after several motorists reported they were unable to register their vehicles. Traffic authorities in the capital assured motorists who have still not registered that they need not worry as a three-month grace period has been introduced.

From 2^nd January onwards, motorists passing the toll gates in Abu Dhabi at Al Maqtaa Bridge, Shaikh Zayed Bridge, Shaikh Khalifa Bridge and Al Khaleej Al Arabi Road are required to pay AED 4 each time they pass, between 7am and 9am, and between 5pm and 7pm.

Tariffs will not be collected on Fridays and public holidays and will also not be charged when passing through toll gates outside the peak hours. The total daily limit is set to AED 16 with AED 200 per month for the first car, AED 150 for the second car and AED 100 for any additional car.

Owners of Abu Dhabi registered vehicles do not need to register on the website, as the ITC has created free accounts for all the vehicles. Each driver received an SMS with his/her account details and were requested to activate their accounts.
