Technology and digitisation, that’s the word we can’t stop thinking about continuously as magnificent evolutions in the business world morph into path-breaking products and processes that aim to make life easier by being affordable, futuristic and above all, sustainable. As ensues the dawn of a new era for Mercedes-Benz keeping the term ‘progressive luxury’ at the forefront, it has revealed its most bonkers project christened the Vision AVTR which alludes to the company’s distant future and left everyone stoked when it was showcased at the annual GITEX computers and electronics show between the 17th and the 21st October.

For starters, the Vision AVTR is one step above the brand’s EQS electric sedan which was revealed recently. Presented in partnership with Mercedes-Benz Middle East, the Vision AVTR was contrived from the movie Avatar and brings the brand one step closer towards transcending to fully electric mobility as this decade bids sayonara.

The car underscores radical and revolutionary vogues that are expected to take place in the future when EVs become the new normal and we adjust to autonomous mobility. The vehicles of the neoteric times have already been tweaked a lot and the scions that will herald a new beginning are expected to bear marked nuances in design, shape and purpose. This holds true for the Vision AVTR which appears like it has incarnated a new form, and it has. Not just the integument, but even its cockpit has witnessed outright transformation from what we have been used to seeing all this while.

Before delving into its interior, it is worth mentioning that the exterior resembles the shape of a pod but better adhere to the phrase ‘One Bow’ as that is how it is referred to in Mercedes-Benz’s parlance. Its lithe coupe stance and a striking LED bar light spanning the rear width grab your attention in a bit. What will leave one wondering is whether the red elements on the rear body were required as that creates a difference of opinion. A cavernous indentation between the tail light strip and the bumper shows the brand’s inventiveness and the light projected in the area is a sassy touch.

However, the most unbelievable aspect is the wheels which are placed as if snugly tucked inside the body. Apart from the ambient lighting on them, these wheels can rotate and revolve to lead to a crawling propulsion for effortless movement on the street. How stupefying is that?

In case you aren’t feeling besotted already perusing and trying hard to fathom all this, the interior is surely going to surprise you. In place of the steering wheel, a multi-functional control unit in the centre console allows the occupants to indulge with the car. Not only that, by simply placing your hand on the control unit, the car’s interior enlivens as the ambient lighting signifies that the car is ready to take you places. The moment you lift your hand, you will find a menu projecting on your palm which can be used to access real-time 3D graphics.

As a proof of sustainability, the seats aren’t made out of ordinary leather but DINAMICA® leather, which is a one of its kind microfiber that doesn’t pollute the environment a lot. Get ready to place your feet on a floor which comes embellished in a type of wood called Karuun®. The raw material for this is known to be replenishing at a rapid pace and is the denizen of Indonesia. It’s undoubtedly going to appear better than the bland black carpets of regular cars.

It’s heartening to witness how all our repugnance, apprehensiveness and notions of electric and autonomous future cars are getting transformed into cosseting, confidence and surety that the future products are something we will be taking to in a jovial fashion and relish the known and some unknown benefits wholeheartedly. The Vision AVTR, what a genuine testament it is to the above statement! It would’ve surely stirred hubbub at the Etisalat stand at World Trade Centre, the perfect idyllic to showcase something so advanced.
