Peugeot Instinct Coupe Front

Not one to be revolutionary, or in the passenger car class at least, the French marque is synonymous with low cost, humdrum city runabouts that are at the opposite end of groundbreaking innovation. Breaking away from the norm, the Peugeot Instinct Concept is the brand’s nomination for the 2017 Geneva Motor Show and features an array of new technologies that aim to offer a highly-connected drive.

Operating on an ‘Internet of Things’ platform, the Peugeot Instinct Concept works in conjunction with Samsung’s Artik Cloud to learn numerous user preferences. Preconfiguring settings to suit the user’s needs, the Instinct Concept alters the drive mode, ambient lighting, audio settings, and the interface settings to match user preferences.

Powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain that delivers 295 horsepower, the French hatchback also possesses the ability to alter its behavior from a series of data points. For instance, if it recognizes the driver has been to the gym, it configures itself to provide a smooth and comfortable drive home. Alternatively, the vehicle’s navigation system can also synchronize with the driver’s diary to ensure they never arrive late to an appointment.

With small cameras incorporated into the headlamp clusters to scan the road and communicate with the driving systems onboard, the Instinct Concept is fully autonomous with a 9.7-inch center console display and an i-Device eliminating traditional pedals and a steering wheel.
