Road Test: 2013 Cadillac XTS

 

FYI - Cadillac is selling at double digit growth rates in US, China and Middle East over the last two years.  An indication of expansion is GM’s announcement to launch a production facility for Cadillac XTS in China, starting this year. China! Once known as the “manufacturer of all things cheap,” it is now the hub of luxury brands. GM recently revealed the average Chinese buyer of a Cadillac is 35 years old! Wow. 

Middle East markets are awash with success stories of luxury car brands. BMW, Mercedes, Bentley and Audi are all basking in this economic sunshine. Cadillac posted a 24% increase in sales for the Middle East in the first half of 2012. The two largest growth markets in GCC are UAE and Saudi Arabia. So it’s no surprise that the launch of 2013 Cadillac XTS was done in Downtown Dubai amidst lots of fanfare.

Who's your Type? The XTS is made for luxury buyers, buyers with deep pockets, expensive tastes and a love for the executive life. So.Not.Me.

I’m a working class family man with twin boys. I drive a 2011 Camry V6. Then why did I decide to experience a test drive for such a prestige car that most people may not find affordable?

Because in the next five years, I’ll be able to own one and it’s time to visualize owning one right now. Hold on…let me visualize it a bit more…wow, that’s a vision!
