Yango: International Ride Hailing Service Launches in Dubai

Dubai has been a promising market for ride-hailing services. Several apps featuring on-demand taxi rides have been launched and provide the convenience of not having to wait or walk until a taxi arrives besides being rapid in picking up customers and providing quality service to have them reach their destination on time comfortably without delays. Another such ride-hailing app with the moniker Yango has been launched in Dubai marking its inception in the GCC. It has several nuances to differentiate from the existing players and offer cutting-edge technology that increases customer convenience.

Receiving approval from the local authorities to commence its functioning in the UAE, Yango has made its presence felt in more than a few countries across the regions of Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

To avail the ride-hailing app, the users have to download the app, launch it and select their destination. Using geolocation, the nearby drivers will be informed of the customer’s location where they will be picked up.

For their journeys, users have the liberty of opting from among two tiers or levels of cars for their rides: Comfort, which allows users to be ferried in premium vehicles such as the Lexus ES and Premier tariff which rants of extremely luxurious cars such as the GMC Yukon, Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the BMW 7-Series. The latter offers the best experience with a modest price to be shelled out. 

Where the service differentiates itself is in tangibles. Irrespective of the tier chosen, the customers will be greeted by phone-charging cables and water bottles. Choosing the Premier tier also treats the ride-hailers with dates.

While most ride-hailing apps make use of a standardised application for routing, Yango uses its own map and routing for navigation and distribution across the region. Yango aims to provide swift car dispatches for customers against its rivals by using its own technologies that have been contrived ground-up exclusively for the app. This is aimed at reducing lead time and creating an efficient network that will reduce empty-car mileage and traffic congestion in the city.

The rates for certain journeys are pegged. For instance, commuting from ‘One&Only Royal Mirage’ in Dubai Marina to Mall of the Emirates is estimated to set one back by AED 52.5 in Comfort and AED 56 in Premier category. Similarly, a ride from La Mer beach to Dubai Mall is fixed at AED 39 in Comfort segment and becomes dearer by AED 3 if Premier segment is selected. 

To cater to a diverse array of multicultural public, the app has been made available in English, Arabic and some other languages. It can be installed from Google Play and App Store. With its unique traits, it aims at getting a competitive advantage over its well-established foes.  

Our Experience

Yango invited us to test their ride-hailing service app and witness how it works in the real-world. We got a Cadillac Escalade from the Premier class for a trip. The prima-facie was really impressive as the driver, well-clad in formal attire, opened the doors for us to climb in and embark on the unique journey. 

Against other apps, we were amazed to receive water bottles as part of their hospitality and independent charging cables to power up our phones to ensure adequate battery at the destination. Fleet of cars is also mesmerising, comprising some of the quintessential examples of luxury, one of those being the Cadillac Escalade among other Japanese, American and German cars.

We didn’t face any issues while traversing and the overall experience was smooth, seamless and worth undertaking it again. Hence, it would be recommended by us.
