Quick Review

The 2013 Nissan Pathfinder is completely changed from the previous generation. The previous Pathfinder was known to be an off-road capable car. This time around, the new Pathfinder has been domesticated and made very family friendly due to popular demand (Read: Sell Out!).

On the plus side, the exterior styling is impressive and the drive is very smooth. Fuel consumption is also very good thanks to the CVT transmission. However, the downside of CVT is the slow acceleration.

As a family friendly 7 seater, on road driving is helped by a host of improvements, such as light steering, excellent suspension and high speed cruising on highways with minimal body roll.

The interior too, has a lot of family comforts as seat warmers and coolers, panoramic roof, rear seat entertainment options and spacious leg room all round. There are some areas which can be improved, however. For example, the rear view visibility is low due to the large rear headrests. Second, the boot space is negligible when all seats are upright. Thirdly the seats are not very well cushioned, which means long trips might be uncomfortable.

To summarize, this is a completely revamped 7 seater, rivalling Honda Pilot and Ford Explorer. More family, less dune bashing.
