The road going version of the Prodrive Hunter has caught many eyes - petrolheads all around the world seem to love the idea of a Dakar car for the road.
The all-terrain hypercar is nearing completion and prospective buyers got the first taste of it in Dubai, where it was put through its paces by international rally raid star, Nani Roma. The two time Dakar winner has played a pivotal role in developing the car.
For those of you who need a reminder, the Hunter has a 3.5 litre V6 twin turbo producing around 600 horsepower and 700Nm of torque. This road going Hunter sees a 50% increase in power from the 3.5 litre V6 and boasts more suspension travel.
In terms of off-road goodies, it has double wishbone, two adjustable dampers per wheel and electronic ride height Adjustment.
Inside the hunter gets carbon fibre seats and a six-point safety harness. It also has a 9” touchscreen multimedia player despite being so rugged.
With the Hunter dubbed as a rally car for the road capable of conquering deserts, the UAE market is on high-priority list for Prodrive. The Hunter costs around $1.4m with local taxes included. Ouch.
“We came to Dubai, to give prospective buyers the opportunity of driving the car for the first time and experience the power and all-round performance of the Hunter in their local terrain,” said Prodrive chairman, David Richards.
“It was good to have Nani Roma on hand to demonstrate the full performance of the Hunter and explain what makes it such a unique vehicle,” he concluded.
