Quick Review

The 2012 Ford Ranger combines the practicality of a pickup truck with the comfort and driving ease of a family vehicle. Although not as striking as the F-Series which comprises of the F-150 range, the Ford Ranger is a good looking truck.

The Ranger comes with 3 engine options; a 2.2 liter 4 cylinder engine, 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine and a 3.2 liter 5 cylinder engine. The 2.2 liter engine comes packed with 148 horsepower and 375 Nm whereas the 2.5 liter engine produces 164 horsepower and 226 Nm. The mighty 3.2 liter engine produces a range topping 197 horsepower and 470 Nm. All engines are linked to an all-wheel drive system.

In terms of the interior, it is well designed and the dashboard boasts a simplistic design. Since the Ranger is more of a commercial vehicle, the interior comprises of hard plastics instead of luxurious soft touch materials and that is absolutely understandable. The interior disappoints in one place though, the steering wheel. Since it is only height adjustable, it prevents the driver from having their ideal driving position.

As for the exterior, the Ranger looks solid and rather decent. The large cargo carrying capacity means transporting almost anything should not be an issue. The Ranger has also been specially designed to reduce air resistance and wind noise while simultaneously improving fuel efficiency.

Competitors for the Ford Ranger include the Nissan Navara, Toyota Hilux and Mitsubishi L200.
