Quick Review

The 2012 Honda Civic gives some improvements over its predecessors, with impressive build quality and a futuristic cabin.

The interior is mostly a good quality affair. The futuristic layout looks good, but whether or not it’s more practical than the traditional layout is another question. Taller passengers might struggle with head space, though the boot space is the largest in its class – with plenty of storage cubbies, fitting your luggage in won’t be a problem.

Driving wise, the Civic is practical and reliable; not the best in class but simple and effective. It can be a tad noisy, and the 1.8L and 2.0L engines are not the most refined.

The Honda Civic competes with the Toyota Corolla, VW Golf and Hyundai Elantra, among other models. You get comparably efficient and low-maintenance kit as standard across the Civic range though and depreciation should be bearable due to low running costs and Honda’s reliable reputation.

The 2012 Honda Civic is a good, practical, all-rounder of a car, suitable for general use by individuals or small families. Though it might just be an edited version of previous Civics, the changes are an improvement – and the futuristic design is a big plus for some. However, it might be worth looking at other models if style and performance rank higher than fuel efficiency and low-cost maintenance.
