Quick Review

The 2013 Hyundai Centennial, sold as the Hyundai Equus in some regions, is Hyundai's flagship large luxury sedan. Fuel economy has taken a small hit, but the new engine gives the 2013 Centennial an impressive boost in power.

A lot of effort has certainly gone into making the Hyundai Centennial stand out in the high-end luxury sedan segment. It has much to recommend it: powerful engineering, sleek yet modern styling, a sumptuous interior and a battery of enhancements that range from the practical (such as the rear and front parking cameras) to the decadent (the unique massaging seats in the Centennial Ultimate edition). The price tag is decidedly competitive, too, stacking up very well with the similarly-equipped Lexus LS 460 and even better with comparable German makes like the Audi A6. It pales a bit in terms of performance, however, and some of the gadgets look outdated next to competitors' offerings. Luxury shoppers will appreciate the Centennial's comfort and opulence, as well as the slightly less brutal financial outlay.

The Hyundai Centennial uses air suspension that's tuned for a soft and cushioned ride. Dynamic radar cruise control effectively detects cars ahead and matches your speed to theirs for a safer, smoother driving experience. The engine is meaty and powerful yet very quiet, and there's little road noise. In all, it's a supremely comfortable if rather anodyne drive.
