Dubai has recently introduced new traffic fines and laws, aiming to enhance road safety. This aligns with a decree issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, as well as the Ruler of Dubai. These regulations, effective from July 6, 2023, enforce stricter penalties for whoever will not comply with them.
Offenders can face fines of up to AED 100,000 and stricter impoundment rules for their vehicles. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and abide by these amended laws, especially regarding vehicle maintenance and modifications.
The Dubai Police and Government have prioritized road safety by implementing these strict measures. Failure to adhere to the updated traffic laws can lead to significant financial penalties and the accumulation of black points on driving records.
It is essential for individuals to know these new traffic fines in Dubai themselves to ensure compliance and avoid the risk of facing penalties or having their vehicles confiscated.
Following is a list of the new Dubai traffic fines, which would need to be paid to get the vehicle out of impound.
Traffic Fine Causing AED 100,000 In Dubai
Road racing without Dubai police Authorization would make you pay a fine of AED 100,000 to get your car out of the impound, as it would put people, cars, and everything surrounding the road in great danger.
Traffic Fine Causing AED 50,000 In Dubai
Doing one of the following traffic violations would make you pay AED 50,000 fine to get your car free from impound.
- Driving the vehicle in reckless behaviour that endangers the safety of others on the road.
- Damaging police vehicles on purpose.
- Driving a car under the legal age (18).
- Driving through/jumping a red light.
- Driving a recreational motorcycle on asphalted roads.
- Driving a vehicle with a fake number plate or a fake Dubai driving license.
Traffic Fine Causing AED 10,000 In Dubai
If you break any of these traffic laws you must pay AED 10,000 fine to get your car out of impound
- Escaping the Dubai Police or evading them
- Driving your car without a number plate on it
- Applying aftermarket modification to the vehicle without authorization leads to enhanced speed and amplified noise levels during operation.
- Applying window or windshield tinting beyond the allowed percentage without permission.
- Drivers gathered for participating in chaotic unauthorized road activities.
Other Fines & Actions Including Deportation
This serves as a reminder for individuals who may have believed that leaving a vehicle at the police impound yard would come without repercussions. Following the completion of the impound period, if the owner fails to pay the designated fee and retrieve the vehicle from the impound yard, an additional charge of AED 50 per day will be imposed for each subsequent day the vehicle remains in the impound yard.
The recently implemented traffic fines and laws in Dubai also instruct that non-UAE drivers operating heavy vehicles will face deportation if they drive through a red light traffic signal.
